Despite all the current trends for Alco Pops, Widgets, Ice Beers and other trendy drinks, there is fortunately an ever increasing band of micro brewers and discerning drinkers, who have discovered that the best way to move forward is to take a step backwards! Modern methods and the latest in brewing expertise and technology can be successfully applied to a product that has served us well for centuries. Thanks to C.A.M.R.A’ s action over the last twenty years almost everyone is aware of “Cask Conditioned or Real Ale”. The past problems of production, distribution and serving Real Ale these days have been overcome and customers expect and receive, their beer in perfect condition.

Traditional beer brewing is on a similar level to fine wine making, where quality not quantity is what matters. Once you have tasted a beer you enjoy, it will stay with you forever.

Bridge of Allan Brewery and Visitor Centre was established in August 1997 by the proprietor, Douglas Ross in the Victorian Spa town of Bridge of Allan nestling between the Wallace Monument and the Stirling Castle and close to the banks of the river Allan. This very historic area has seen many battles fought on its soil and was known as the Gateway to the Highlands as all armies heading north had to pass through Stirling and cross the river Forth by use of a ford, a ferry and latterly by crossing Stirling Bridge. The Forth Valley area was once a very important brewing area with over 32 breweries at one time. This was due to the port facilities, ample crop growing fertile lands and fresh water from the Ochil hills. Beers and ales from here were shipped to other parts of Scotland, England and other parts of the world. Sadly there are no longer any large breweries left in the area but brewing still continues in Forth Valley thanks to the four local micro breweries like Bridge of Allan producing fine quality Scottish ales and still exporting overseas.
